The only evening in the year
Encompassed with hues of fireworks
And here I am, waiting for you dear.
In the midst of these people full of cheer
Brimming with happiness and resolutions for the new year
However, deep within me something starts to grow β fear.
Gathered in pairs
As the clock prepares to strike at twelve
There on my right cheek, a single tear.
Everyone engulfed in the moment as the countdown stopped.
I too, stopped.
For there was still no you in my embrace
Full of celebrations, champagne, confetti, kisses
I stood in the middle of it all
But thereβs no you and our midnight kiss.
