This year’s OSA recipients who have become living exemplars of excellence, character and service are former SU President Dr. Ben S. Malayang III in environment and academic leadership; Mr. Moses L. Alcala in applied environmental geology; Dr. Jonathan C. Amante in medical services development; Atty. Myrish T. Cadapan-Antonio in global leadership development; Rev. Dr. Al B. Fuertes in conflict transformation and peace-building; and Dr. Leonilo B. Oliva in educational service.

The six OSA awardees will be honored during a conferral rite to be held at the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium on Aug. 28. The OSA is an annual highlight of the Founder’s Day celebration, attended by Silliman students, faculty, staff and administrators as well as the awardee’s family and friends.

The awardees are nominated based on the university’s motto: “Via, Veritas, Vita.” Via “The Way,” is reflected on the awardees’ outstanding professional achievements in their field of specialization; Veritas “The Truth,” is the individuals’ social responsibility and; and Vita “The Life,” is the individuals’ personal conduct and exemplary family life.
