Bodies file shoulder to shoulder,
skins divided by cotton and polyester,
tired eyes held by gravity’s pull.
Infinite voices rise and fall,
hoarse, sometimes laced with laughter
With breaths held and released,
I stay and feel
Every soul intertwined,
Every unspoken line,
Every unsung song,
Every piece of art,
Every life abiding by the rules of time,
Hidden behind the strangers
whose names I shall never know
The man who checks his watch
on his bus ride home,
The mother who cradles
her suckling, innocent child
What a wonder humanity is!
A curious creation
leaving footprints too infinite to count
We must have a divine right
to simply exist!
In this small blue dot of the vast universe,
We love
We hope
and we laugh on our way home.
