CBA reclaims golden title after 4-year drought

    Intrams trophy returns home

By AC Putong and Dhel Sue Cabiara

The true home of champions has risen as the College of Business Administration (CBA) Golden Bees brought home the overall championship in the recently-concluded All-University Intramurals 2026, ending a 4-year drought dominated by the College of Engineering and Design (CED) Raptors.

Golden Bees amassed a total of 515 points, bagging 9 gold, 8 silver, and 7 bronze medals across different sports events, SU Athletics Department Director Dr. Dionesio Piñero II announced during the closing and awarding ceremony last Feb. 21.

CBA student-athletes proved their dominance in women’s badminton and men’s basketball, nabbing new golds in ultimate frisbee, women’s chess, men’s division in spikeball, softball, track and field, and Larong Pinoy’s relay and sack race.

The college also took the first-runner-up podium in the men’s category of table tennis, chess, football, and volleyball, softball women, larong pinoy – tug-of-war, mobile legends, and cheer-pop competition.

They also finished second runner-up in DOTA 2, men’s badminton, women’s volleyball, track and field, roundnet, table tennis, and basketball.

Among the star players from CBA were two-time badminton MVP Mia Go, John Marvin Loyloy from the softball team, and Denzel Cornelia, who defended their basketball championship title.

    Comeback win

CBA Dean Wilma Tejero-Libarios credited their comeback win to the perseverance and efforts of their community, led by Governor Nevina Cardente, athletes, coaches, faculty and staff, working committees, and medics.

“This victory reflects teamwork, discipline, and commitment to excellence, not only in sports but in leadership and unity,” Tejero-Libarios said.

She stressed that it is a “proud and meaningful moment” that reflects the strong spirit and collective effort over the past four years of battling for the trophy.

Cardente also shared, “The trophy is finally home to where it belongs. We are proving that we are the true home of the champions.”

The CED Raptors, which held the golden title from 2021 to 2025, also made a strong finish this year with 445 points, hailing first runner-up, while the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Blazing Phoenixes followed with 335 points.

This year, the CED dominated men’s pickleball, swimming, volleyball, lawn tennis, women’s football, spikeball, track events, softball, and the cheer-pop competition.

Meanwhile, CAS bested other teams in women’s basketball, swimming, volleyball, men’s badminton, DOTA 2, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

Moreover, the Institute of Clinical Laboratory Sciences (ICLS) Hornets and the Institute of Rehabilitative Sciences (IRS) Agilas marked a joint win with 200 points each for third runner-up.

The IRS and ICLS also secured wins in men’s table tennis and chess, respectively. Themed “Embracing Christ’s Peace, Cultivating Care, and Re-Visioning Excellence,” the week-long sporting event was organized by the SU Student Government (SUSG) Sports and Recreation Committee and SU Athletics Department.
