With discounts and privileges from over 50 partner establishments, Silliman University (SU) graduates can now avail lifetime benefits through a new alumni ID card launched by the Silliman Alumni Association Inc. (SAAI).
The updated alumni ID, posted last Sept. 26, will serve as identification, proof of lifetime membership, and as a privilege card for all members.
Partner establishments within Dumaguete include hotels, restaurants, spas, and wellness centers in Dumaguete such as the Atlantis Dive Resort, Go Hotels, and Hayahay.
ID holders can avail discounts including a 2-percent off at MedExpress, 20-percent off for accommodations and 30-percent off for food and beverages at Atlantis Dive Resort.
The association also partnered with establishments outside Negros Oriental such as Cebu, Dipolog, Bacolod, Ilo-Ilo, Boracay, Davao, Siargao, Cagayan de Oro, and Manila.
Aside from discounts, the new ID card also functions as a campus access pass for graduates.
Card holders can get access to the SU Main Library, bring guests for tours, and enter the campus without issue as long as they log in on their visits.
Moreover, applications for the alumni ID are conducted through a Google Form linked to the association’s database to verify students’ records.
Applicants must also upload a photo and e-signature and complete the lifetime membership payment prior to getting their IDs.
SAAI explained that all graduates initially pay a ₱605 partial alumni fee upon graduation, which grants temporary membership for six years. However, the total lifetime membership fee is set at ₱1,750.
To avail lifetime membership, SU college graduates alone will pay an additional ₱1,145, while SU graduates who finished both senior high school and college in the university will only pay ₱645.
According to SAAI Executive Director RD Marie Delos Reyes, the development of the Member Exclusives program began with an initial list in the early 2000s and expanded as the association continued to partner with various businesses.
Many of the partner establishments are also owned by SU alumni.
