Best places for Wifi Connection in SU

By Tatiana Onofre

In the great plains of Silliman University, there are two things students are always hunting for: (1) motivation, and (2) WiFi. While the first remains endangered, the second, luckily, is decent—if you know where to look.

Behold, the sacred “Silliman Hotspot,” not just a WiFi connection, but a lifeline, a best friend, and sometimes, the only reason a student leaves their dorm.

So if you’re tired of checking your MySoul with one bar and endless buffering, fear not. We’ve mapped out the ultimate WiFi oases of SU.

  1.  Guy Hall
Guy Hall serves some of the finest Silliman Hotspot strength around. Ideal for casual scrolling. Sit on the benches nearby and you’ll even get that peaceful “nature plus strong signal” combo. It’s giving serious academic vibes.
  2. The Gym
You go there to break a sweat, but end up breaking your personal record for fastest series binge. The WiFi here is strong, perfect for “studying” (a.k.a. watching stories for two hours).
  3. Katipunan Hall (KH) Steps
KH isn’t just for those with classes. The steps have become unofficial gathering spots for students… and WiFi signals. Tip: the closer you are to the wall (and the shade), the better the connection. Bonus: you get free life advice from upperclassmen passing by.
  4. Benches by the School of Public Affairs and Governance (SPAG) department
Legend says if you sit at the right bench on the second floor of Katipunan Hall, you get a Silliman Hotspot signal so pure it could revive a dead Zoom call. Just be careful — you might end up staying longer than your free period.
  5. College of Business Administration (CBA) Lobby
The CBA Lobby can be more than just a waiting area—it’s a full-fledged WiFi hub disguised as a casual lobby. Perfect spot to wait for someone when you don’t have the data.
  6. Oriental Hall (OH)The real veteran of student hangout spots where students study, eat, and catch a nap. The wifi here has never failed a student, even on black outs–fast, reliable, and strong enough to handle everything from video calls to last-minute project uploads without a hitch.

Final Pro Tip:
Always bring a power bank. When the WiFi is good, your battery will betray you faster than you can say “Silliman Hotspot.”

Good luck, Sillimanians. May your signals be strong and your deadlines be extended.
