Silliman University Junior High School bow-and-arrow athlete collected seven gold medals and one silver during the Central Visayas Athletic Association (CVIRAA) held in Carcar City, Cebu.

Naina Tagle, a grade 9 student, was hailed as the “single-most bemedalled athlete” during the regional meet. She secured winning rounds in the 30m, 50m, 60m, 70m, FITA (1440), Olympic round, and mixed team event, according to Headz Up NegOr News.

“It was my first ever CVIRAA, and I enjoyed meeting new archers and old acquaintances from past competitions,” Tagle said.

Before the regional meet, Tagle said she practiced after school classes weekly.

She added that it is “because you won’t be able to reap what you sow if you [sow] nothing at all.”

Representing Chada, Dumaguete’s team of athletes from different schools within the city, Tagle was under the training of coach Jahan Cataruja and coach Estelita Duran.

Tagle is set to play in the national sports meet Palarong Pambansa in Marikina City, which will commence later this year.
