30/30 reps voted 7% misc increase proposal not ‘appropriate’

by Nathaniel Carampatana | May 14, 2023

During the yes or no portion of the Silliman University Student Government (SUSG) 2023 Election Forum, twenty candidates under the Concerted Action for the Upliftment of Students’ Endeavors (CAUSE) party and ten under the Students’ Union for Reforms (SURE) party voted that the seven percent increase of the miscellaneous fees was not appropriate.

The prompt was presented after the recent announcement of the miscellaneous increase proposal. The SU Administration reasoned that the increase was due to inflation.

With a total of 15 questions prepared by the Weekly Sillimanian, the yes or no section of the forum was held to gather the candidates’ stand on various student issues.

Candidates under CAUSE party who voted are the following: Frances Aldaba, Sabrina Ledesma, Katinka Visitacion, Alessandra Donesa, Gianne Gaudan, Jozua Patalan, Gerard Jardin, Grylle Malala, Patricia Bonto, Karla Fontelo, Jan Andrei Elizalde, Izabella Credo, Seve Tuale, Aaron Duran, Francis Bulado, Christian Cual, Audrey Delfin, Merliel Putong, Ariel Lester, Jr. Am-is, and Joshua Despi.

SURE party candidates who voted are the following: Athena Dumaog, Lia Bungabong, Milcah Balasabas, Julius Umbina, Brianna Jabel, Alyssa Algo, Juan Carlos Rodriguez, Lourd Anque, Chelsey Gonzales, and Anton Asignar.

The SUSG Election Forum was held last May 10 at Guy Hall, Silliman University.
